Matt Eckstine’s John Prine Tribute

Savannah Georgia Music Scene

Anyone on the Savannah Music scene knows the name Matt Eckstine. A talented musician and songwriter you can catch Matt live at venues all over the low country. Matt also put together an incredible John Prine tribute concert this fall to a sold out crowd at Tybee Post Theater on Tybee Island, often referred to as Savannah’s beach town. He pulled together many of the areas finest musicians and put on a memorable concert for all who attended.

Matt reached out to Maring Fine Art about capturing the concert, and creating a demo video of the show that he could share with other potential venues. If you are a venue seeking an incredible John Prine Tribute concert then look no further, and reach out to Matt via the link to his website above.

As a musician myself I love getting out and supporting live music. So, I appreciate it when other musicians reach out about having our studio create promo artwork or video demos as music is one of my greatest joys. We’ve created demos for solo artists, duos, trios, and full bands, and we are prepared to handle just the video capture and editing and/or the audio recording and mixing as well.

One thing I’ve learned is that great video demos are the key to finding paid gigs whether it’s directly with a venue, or when you are trying to connect with a booking agent. It’s an investment in yourself and your music. I’d argue that it’s the most important digital assets that a musician can have. So, if you are a musician, and you're seeking greater opportunities to get paid to perform live, reach out and learn more about how we can help.

Working in a 4K or 6K video resolution allows us to pull still photographs from the video footage as well.

Remembering John Prine

A Songwriter's Legacy

In the realm of American folk music, few names resonate with as much reverence and admiration as John Prine. His passing in April 2020 left a void in the hearts of countless fans worldwide, but his music continues to serve as a timeless testament to his unmatched talent as a songwriter and storyteller.

Born and raised in the heartland of America, Prine's music was deeply rooted in the folk and country traditions of his upbringing. Yet, his songs transcended genre boundaries, weaving together elements of humor, poignancy, and social commentary with a masterful touch.

One of Prine's most enduring qualities was his ability to find beauty in the ordinary moments of life. Whether he was singing about love, loss, or the quirks of human nature, his lyrics had a way of cutting straight to the heart with their honesty and simplicity. Tracks like "Angel from Montgomery" and "Hello in There" are poignant reflections on the human experience that continue to resonate with listeners of all ages.

But Prine was also a keen observer of the world around him, unafraid to tackle tough subjects with wit and insight. From the plight of Vietnam War veterans in "Sam Stone" to the struggles of working-class Americans in "Paradise," his songs shed light on the often overlooked corners of society with empathy and compassion.

Perhaps what truly set Prine apart as a songwriter was his knack for storytelling. Each song was like a miniature movie, populated by vivid characters and richly detailed landscapes. Whether he was spinning a yarn about a lovelorn mailman in "Donald and Lydia" or a pair of star-crossed lovers in "In Spite of Ourselves," Prine had a gift for drawing listeners into his world and making them feel like they were a part of the story.

Even as we mourn the loss of John Prine, his music lives on as a testament to the enduring power of song. In an era of disposable pop hits and fleeting trends, his songs remain as relevant and resonant as ever, reminding us of the beauty and humanity that can be found in even the most ordinary moments of life. As we listen to his music, we can't help but feel grateful for the legacy he left behind and the countless lives he touched with his artistry.
