Finding Solace in the Simple Pleasures of Island Time

Introducing "Island Time," a new single. Inspired by the ocean, sunshine, and the wind this sailor’s song came to life through all kinds memories I have of sailing the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean along with a dream I have of sailing off into the sunset one day. The tones are influenced by the coastal vibes of Jimmy Buffet, the improv leads of Jerry Garcia, and the energetic latin beats of some classic Santana. I wrote, recorded, and produced this song from the ground up performing all the parts you hear from our Downtown Savannah GA art loft. This is the first of 9 songs I will release in 2024.

In this storytelling adventure I aim to take listeners on a personal journey to a place of tranquility and serenity, where the beauty of nature surrounds us and time seems to stand still. Through each lyric and melody, I aimed to encapsulate the essence of escaping to an island paradise, where worries melt away and the only thing that matters is the present moment.

As I sing about gazing upon a red sunset on the horizon and feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, I am transported to a place of calmness and connection with the world around me. The imagery of a ship out at sea adds to the sense of adventure and freedom, as I embrace the simplicity of life on the open ocean.

Performing this song live is a real treat for me as a solo artist because I approach it with a lot of improvisation throwing down loops and lead guitar parts in different places, and adding in some percussive elements, etc… I feel it gives the audience a different experience each time they hear it. Like snowboarding down a mountain, I am in control, but I tend to push the envelope. Living on the edge, with a chance I could fall hard, but somehow see it through. It has taken a lot of work to be able to just feel my way through and ride a song like this with confidence. The audience is right there on the edge with me.
