“The west side always felt like home…”
When my wife and I moved to the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City the area had so much charm that it just felt right. What is now the bustling High Line was just abandoned train tracks and trestles. Chelsea was the quiet part of the city with a few boutiques, restaurants, warehouses, and lots of art galleries. The area was growing and evolving, and this little corner of Manhattan had such an amazing energy that I can still feel it in my pulse. We lived on West 23rd Street between 10th and 11th for a number of years, and moved up to 11th and 30th for the rest of our New York journey. We were young and in love. We had come to New York with big artist dreams, and we’d spend many a late night at The Half King pub on 10th and 23rd talking over cocktails about big ideas, dreams, and where we were headed. Now years later I’m reminiscing about this happy time in our lives in a song. The memories are crystal clear, and I’ll never forget the feelings we shared. I hope you enjoy this little love song written about the city that we’ve grown to love so much. They say you can’t go back home, as it’s never the same. But, at least I can memorialize this moment in time in a song.
