“Play that song again…” There is nothing like a song that can take us back in time, and for me “Home Again” does just that. When I sing these lyrics I picture so many beautiful memories in my mind. In a couple verses I see cabin up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire right on the river bend where I met up with life long friends and spent the week playing music by a campfire and soaking in the cool mountain air. In another I reference my dad, mom, brother, and sister and I feel blessed every time I sing through that verse. Home has many meanings. Sometimes it’s a place, other times maybe it’s a feeling. Yet, other times it’s the people who have stood by us. Home is our family, our friends, and the times we hold dear.

I tend to write from the heart in a storytelling way. I don’t think much about genre when I’m composing a song, I just think about how I feel, and let the universe do the rest. Like most of my songs this tune has what I’d call an Americana sound. It sits on the ledge somewhere between southern rock, folk, and country.

“Daddy died to young, he was an honest man…” The past is the past, and while it sometimes comes with pain and loss I find comfort in writing about it. The best thing we can do to honor the past is to live life to the fullest right now, and creating new music is one way to do that. It’s a way to preserve the memory, and share it with the world. As a songwriter I never know how it will relate to others, but it’s an awesome feeling when somebody tells me how much a particular song touched them. So this time I’m going back in time in a song… Home Again.
